Esthetic Dentistry & Smile Design

Holistic aesthetic planning that considers your facial proportions, gum line and bite balance — not just the colour of your teeth.

Digital smile planning

Smile design is shaped through photographic analysis of facial proportions and the gum line together.

What Is Esthetic Dentistry?

Esthetic dentistry is a comprehensive planning process that addresses not just the appearance of teeth but also colour, shape, length, symmetry, gum line and facial proportions together. A good aesthetic result comes not from white teeth alone, but from all these elements coming together in natural balance.

At Bergedent, every stage of aesthetic planning is conducted by MSc Dt. Tunç Berge. Digital smile simulation, mock-up application and pre-treatment photographic analysis help concretise expectations before any procedure begins.

Scope of Aesthetic Planning

Digital Smile Simulation

You can visually evaluate the likely outcome digitally before treatment begins.

Mock-up Application

A temporary aesthetic trial is carried out in the mouth; shape, colour and length can be adjusted.

Multi-Treatment Coordination

Complex cases involving veneers, crowns, whitening and implants are managed in a coordinated manner.

Gum Balance

Laser gum contouring, where needed, is an integral part of the aesthetic result.

Mock-up and refinement

Shape, surface, and light reflection are refined together at the try-in and final stages.

Aesthetic Treatment Process

01

Aesthetic Analysis

Facial proportions and smile analysis are performed using photographs, video and occlusal records.

02

Digital Planning & Mock-up

A simulation is prepared. Patient consent is obtained through an in-mouth mock-up.

03

Treatment Application

Veneers, crowns, composite bonding or gum aesthetics are applied according to the plan.

04

Final Assessment

Aesthetic and occlusal balance is checked and any refinement procedures are carried out.

Indications for Aesthetic Treatment

  • Tooth discolouration (staining that does not respond to whitening)
  • Shape and size irregularities (short, small or uneven teeth)
  • Diastema (gaps between teeth)
  • Mild crowding and rotations (not requiring orthodontics)
  • Chipped or worn tooth edges
  • Asymmetric gum line

Frequently Asked Questions

Does digital smile design guarantee the final result?

Digital simulation provides an approximate visual of the likely outcome. The final result depends on biological factors such as tooth preparation, enamel thickness, colour response and gum behaviour. The mock-up is the formal approval step.

How long does aesthetic treatment take?

It varies from single-session composite bonding to multiple-veneer cases completed over 2–3 appointments. A comprehensive aesthetic plan may span several weeks.

How should aesthetic teeth be maintained?

Porcelain veneers and crowns are brushed and flossed similarly to natural teeth. A night guard is recommended if teeth grinding is present.

Is there an age limit for aesthetic treatment?

It can be applied to any adult with completed dental development and healthy gums. Composite bonding is more common in younger adults; restoration-based corrections predominate in later life.
